Hi there! So what's your name?

Jacquie Love

Where do you call home?

Sydney

What do you do?

I run Secret Sisterhood which is a women's empowerment social enterprise.

Tell us your story

I founded Secret Sisterhood three years ago after visiting India and seeing the injustices that women and girls face there, specifically related to trafficking. I was shocked to discover that girls as young as 10 are trafficked from their families and forced into prostitution. Since then my eyes have been open to the range of issues that women and girls must face around the world. I wanted to make a difference to these women I had met but I had no idea how as I had a background in fashion design. When I discovered the concept of social enterprise, a business that runs for purpose, I knew that it was the path for me. I could use my skills in design, create a business but then give back that way.

If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger self?

To believe in me. The biggest thing holding me back was myself. When I started to believe in myself, I realised that anything is possible!

What does "living freely" mean to you?

My word for this year is 'freedom'. I have the word printed out and framed on my desk. How ironic that this has been the year where physical freedom has been most limited. I believe that living freely is having the opportunity to live up to our full potential. So many women and girls are denied these opportunities simply because of their gender, which is why I am so passionate about empowering women and girls through Secret Sisterhood.

Where can we follow your work and support you?
